Author's comment:
"Why not read the Holy Scriptures and learn of the many victories therein; take care not to miss the special one of the Lord Jesus Christ and His payment of sin."

The Madness of Self-Confidence
It is a solemn thing to find the Apostle Paul warning saints against the most loathsome sins. "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry." Do saints want warning against such sins as these? Yes, they do! The whitest robes, unless their purity be preserved by divine grace, will be defiled by the blackest spots.
Experienced Christian, boast not in your experience; you will trip yet if you look away from Him who is able to keep you from falling. Ye whose love is fervent, whose faith is constant, whose hopes are bright, say not, "We shall never sin," but rather cry, "Lead us not into temptation." There is enough tinder in the heart of the best of men to light a fire that shall burn to the lowest hell, unless God shall quench the sparks as they fall.
The Lord Went to Pray
And it came to pass in those days, that He went into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. -- Luke 6:12
The time He chose to pray was admirable. It was the hour of silence, when the crowd would not disturb Him; the time of inaction, when all but Himself had ceased to labor; and the season when slumber made men forget their woes, and cease their applications to Him for relief. While others found rest in sleep, He refreshed Himself with prayer. The place was also well selected. He was alone where none could intrude, and where none could observe. Only heaven and earth in midnight stillness heard the groans and sighs of this mysterious Being in whom both worlds were blended.
The continuance of His pleadings was remarkable; the cold wind did not chill His devotions; the grim darkness did not darken His faith, neither did loneliness check His petitions. Should we not learn from the Lord Jesus and resort to special prayer when we are under peculiar trial?

It Will Be Glorious!
When we least expect it to happen
Christ will call us to "rise up" into the skies...
We shall meet Him there with praise and song,
With joyful hearts, and blissful sighs.
We will be caught up and made new
On that sweet and glorious day
In just a moment -- only the blink of an eye,
We will be seized away!
Yes, it will be "swift" when our LORD cries
To those He has called to be His bride;
It will be glorious, O' so very beautiful...
To be always near to His side.
